陳界仁的《殘響世界》是2014年的新作,曾以四頻道投影展出。這次的投映計畫在原拍攝地點樂生療養院,以卡車承載機具做游動式的現地投影,繼《幸福大廈I》的原地投映,再次呼應陳界仁錄影作品中不可見的一面:在拍攝場景現地,進行疊映式的投影。《殘響世界》的四段敘事《陪伴者》、《種樹的人》、《被懸置的房間》、《之前與之後》在樂生運動的側邊,展開了供予默片辯士自由解說般的殘響式影像。對於樂生療養院中的長期陪伴者、陸配清潔工、周富子與大風樹、殖民與當代治理,進行了對話、交映、聲音互滲的影像配置。《殘響世界》中的敘事語調跳脫了一般被攝者、控訴的邏輯,將餘生者的見證導引向安靜的陪伴、書寫、地景的繞行、音樂、舞蹈和俗民儀式,甚至是植物的意象,強而有力地體現了「殘響論」的影像實踐理念。 CHEN Chieh-Jen's "Realm of Reverberations" is the artist's new work in 2014, projected with 4-channel video. The theater this time is set at the original shooting site, Lo-Sheng Sanatorium, with a truck served as a mobile platform for screening devices to play the video. After "Happiness Building I" screened at the original site, it once again echoes with the unseen side of CHEN's video works: Superimposition of images at the shooting site. The 4 narratives of "Realm of Reverberations": "Companion", "Tree-planters", "Suspended Room", and "Before and After", alongside the Lo-Sheng Movement, reveal the reverberated images for debaters in silent films to interpret at will. The work involves the long-term companions in Lo-Sheng Sanatorium, janitors from mainland China who were married to Taiwanese, Fu-Zi Chou and Windy Tree, colonization and contemporary governance, all of which are overlapped with each other in images and audio to engage in a discourse. The narrative tone of "Realm of Reverberations", transcending the conventional interviewees' indictment, guides the testimony of those who remain to quiet company, writings, walks around landscapes, music, dances, folk rituals, and even the images of vegetation. Such practice is a powerful incarnation of "reverberation theory".
